Throughout history, both Jews and Christians have articulated their faith in God through hymns and songs. It is no surprise, then, that the apostle Paul may have turned to a familiar hymn of the earliest Christians to drive home his point that the Philippians should "have the same mindset as Christ Jesus" (Phil. 2:5).
